The LSYSA Spring 2009 season comes to an end this Sat/Sun with the Spring Tournament. It will be a single elimination competition with 1st Round matches played on Saturday morning and the Semifinals in the afternoon. All of the (15) finals will be played on Sunday afternoon. Most of the matches will be played at Park West, except for (8) matches on Sat morning at JIYSC and (2) at Trident Academy on Sat afternoon.
Here a few things to remember:
- There must be a winner. Overtime play is 2 x 5 min Golden Goal followed by PK’s.
- Only players on the field at the end of play can participate in PK’s.
- Make sure your parents stay on the opposite side of the field. Coaches are responsible for the actions of the parents.
- Proper substitutions with players at midfield to wait until referee has motioned them in
- Sportsmanlike behavior on the sidelines from the coaches. (Excessive yelling will not be allowed.)
- Address the referee is a respectful manner.
- Home team will provide a game ball.
- Pay referees prior to the match.
- ROSTERS WILL BE INSPECTED PRIOR TO EACH MATCH!!!!
On behalf of all of the teams in LSYSA, I want the thank McDonald’s for their support of youth soccer here in the Lowcountry and the LSYSA.
I also want to thank Alex Voelker, LSYSA Referee Assignor, for his efforts this season. I think we can all agree that we are heading in the right direction. A slap on the back also goes out to Neil Veloso, former LSYSA President, who stepped in to keep LSYSA afloat and who made my job easier in providing a sound youth league environment for the kids to play in.
Finally, let’s have fun and no matter what the outcome of the match, be sure to tell your players how great they are and how proud you are of them!
It has been my pleasure serving as your Commissioner this season.
All the best, Kenyon
